about

AN ARTIST WITH A RICH PORTFOLIO TO HIS NAME, ERIC LUNE MARKS A WELCOME RETURN TO BALANCE MUSIC WITH HIS ‘YONDER’ EP.

Since debuting in 2018 on Madloch‘s Sound Avenue, Eric Lune has lit up the progressive house scene with his ‘soulful dance’ blend. Since then, over 150 production credits and a plethora of original tracks have found their way on to the likes of Juicebox Music, Plattenbank, Forward Music, and Proton Music, remixed by such iconic figures as Nick Muir, Dave Seaman, and Pole Folder.

The Australian hit new heights in 2022 with his debut Balance Music outing, the ‘Predisposition’ EP, which captured the beautiful melodic flow and high-energy approach he’s become synonymous with. To kick off the new year, the producer presents a musical triptych in the form of the ‘Yonder’ EP.

The title track is a trademark driving number that hits powerfully with a metronomic kick and fizzing percussive hi-hats. An intricate synth adds to the atmosphere and ethereal pads pulsate gently underneath in oscillating waves. A pitched vocal’s syncopated energy adds intrigue to the breakdown before the smooth groove of bass, rhythm and melody returns in the latter movements to superb effect.

‘Body Language‘ continues the melodic narrative. A hallmark flourish opens proceedings before layers of complementary motifs and chord progressions add to the collage. Picking up the pace in the second half, a delightfully cadenced synth phrase adds a subtle house vibe which combines effortlessly with the melodic idea introduced in earlier movements. The result is a deliciously smooth, club-friendly offering that fully showcases Eric Lune’s production talent.

The final piece finds ‘Rumi‘ opening with a strong beat and lilting groove. A sublime bassline progression supplies emotion through sustained notes, and a looped, glassy motif provides dynamics. Luscious and evolving pads add to the overall texture as they combine during the beatless breakdown. The central melody appears once more in the third movement as earlier melodic ideas are reintroduced for a rousing finale of aural colour.
